Marianske Lazne Spa (Marienbad)

The most romantic spa town in the Czech Republic located near Karlovy Vary. This picturesque town attracts visitors thanks to its unique charm, which is reflected both in the architecture and in the surrounding countryside, but also in the healing effects of local water springs.

The healing effects of the springs have been discovered by the end of the 18th century when they were systematically examined by Dr. Jan Josef Nehr. In 1805 he built at the Krizik-spring the first house of stone for spa guests with the name “Golden Ball”.

Thanks to the financial support of Abbot Karl Kaspar Reitenberger, the inhospitable swampy valley became in the years 1817 – 1823 a charming city full of parks, a Classicist, and Empire-houses, summerhouses, gazebos, and colonnades. Today, Marianske Lazne is a very desirable place for those who want to escape from the everyday life rush, want to experience beautiful quiet moments, and want to win over new vitality and energy.

Marienbad is located at a height of 630m, the climate is mild.

HEALING SPRINGS  All springs that arise here are cold acidulous water-springs of the temperature between 7°C – 10°C. Some of them have a high content of divalent iron (10-40 mg / l). The fact that these arise from diverse sources in a small area, often right next to each other, is a balneology rarity. The difference in the chemical composition of the sources allows the influence just by the drinking cure a number of diseases of various organs.
